MT. LASSEN CAMP 2009

Dining area and tabernacle, Mt. Lassen Camp

Eighteen of us headed north for a week of camp, and came back CHANGED!  As there were no busses or motor homes this year (we stayed in cabins or the Lodge) we were pretty well crammed into 5 cars.  It was more than worth it, however, as every service gave each person what we needed.  Camp speakers Harold Johnson and Faye Clark said just what God wanted them to.  Margaret's son Anthony received the Baptism on the last morning there.  Simon provided huge messes of rainbow trout (Margaret's daughter Celeste provided four).  Agustin, James and Evan played worship music at vespers, at which Margaret also gave her testimony.  Simon volunteered at Chat 'n' Chew.  It was glory, glory, glory all the way.

CAPAY

After a great Fourth-of-July final service and repacking, we headed toward Capay Assembly.  That cool swimming pool was waiting, and everyone, especially the kids, jumped in.  Pastor Ed Gross put on a fireworks show in the driveway.  The next day, the Homeless Church put on a service for Capay, with the three in our worship band, Glen and Tammy, who came over from Chico and sang "I Saw the Light," and Evan's preaching.  Evan demonstrated his points on an imaginary map of Israel, but we discovered when we went to the potluck that followed that the Sunday School had made us REAL maps of Israel out of shells, yarn, paper mache, and whatnot.  How did they know?  Awesome service and time of fellowship.  Maria was there, now working at a Christian seniors' home and with her own apartment.  God is faithful!  And then......back to San Francisco!

LaDawn

When LaDawn Rance, candidate missionary to the Dominican Republic, came to speak at the Embarcadero service, the people began to give.  People, these homeless people are giving to the Lord's work an average of $200 per month.  We are so humbled--Evan had suggested they turn in a few cans to help support her and we would cash them in.  No, they are bringing cash, and putting it each week in a hat.  It is a privilege to worship with these people.   LaDawn is now in the Dominican Republic, where she  will begin working with kidnapped and abused children.   (Read article in Pentecostal Evangelical >)

EMBARCADERO

A year ago, we were delighted if 12 people came to the service in the park opposite the Ferry Building Sunday morning.  But something happened.  It all started when one of the people who came started making his own flyers to pass out.  Things just snowballed from there until 30 to 40 CORRECTION:  50 people is an average service, with over 100 at breakfast.
